What I listened to in September, part 2.
It seems like just yesterday I was writing a similar post for September 2013! Time flies when you're... incredibly busy with school. I am now living in Seattle, WA, and this geography shift has really influenced my music choices for this month - this city has a laidback vibe and I'm loving it so far! Here are some of the songs that really defined the beginning of autumn for me this year.
"True North" by Pinback: a couple years ago, one of my best friends gave me the glorious album "Information Retrieved" on vinyl, and I am now realizing how stupid I was to not listen to it until very recently. The whole album is wonderful, and "True North" is my favorite. It instills that sense of nostalgia that most Pinback songs give me.
"Red Eyes" by The War on Drugs: I am obsessed with this song. The chorus gives me chills each and every time I hear it. It reminds me of a beautiful summer full of sun and lazy days. It feels really triumphant. The War on Drugs released their latest album in March, but this song has stayed with me into the end of this year (shoutout to KNRK 94.7 for playing great music this summer).
"My Type" by Saint Motel: I'm not sure why I'm sticking this song in the middle of this list. If there's one song you decide to listen to from this list, it should be this one. It's amazingly sassy and catchy and will definitely make you want to dance (and I really hate that phrase so if I'm using it, you know this song is majorly dance-able). Check out "Benny Goodman" as well! Both of these songs are great if you also go to school in the NW and need songs to brighten your otherwise dreary and rainy day.
"Lost and Found" by Johnny Flynn: I will confess, I heard this song in Starbucks. I will confess, I Shazam-ed this song WHILE on a job interview in Starbucks. That's how much I liked it. It feels like autumn personified. (I will warn you, this song sounds much better recorded, in my opinion. If you question my judgment after listening from the link below, find the song on Spotify).

Missing Loufest
I am experiencing some major withdrawal now that I'm weeks removed from Loufest. I could not have asked for a better weekend--the weather was incredible (a lil bit of both cool-n-comfy, and sunshine happiness bordering 2nd degree burns), the energy was up, and the bands were, naturally, a wonderful musical discovery.
Here are my thoughts regarding this year’s festival!

HALLO
Hey everyone!
Happy emotional roller-coaster time!
Is it August already?! It has been an incredible, mind-boggling, busy, relaxing, unbelievable summer in St. Louis. I felt that I was truly able to experience more of what the Lou has to offer. Some amazing events that I have been able to attend:
4th of July - Fair St. Louis (The Neighbourhood and Capital Cities)
Big lifts
Blues in the Botanical Gardens
Medical school applications
Soulard Farmer's Market - literal bliss
Let's just get right to it then, shall we?

HI HOW ARE YOU
Yeah...so...it's been a while.
I'm sure Rahee can attest, but it's been a hell of a few months. Rahee and I are in the midst of completing our final semester in college!!! I actually just completed my LAST. DAY. OF. COLLEGE. How crazy and surreal is that...
Let me fill you in on what has gone on with me personally the past few months:

Let me fill you in on what has gone on with me personally the past few months:
- Class insanity to the MAX
- SXSW
- Panic attacks about graduation
- Concussion (wtf)
- Reminiscing about the wild last four years
Spring has sprung (finally!) here at WashU! <3
But let's just get right back into the aural pleasure! In no particular chronological or preferential order...Seriously, cannot handle...they were all so incredible.

Happy New Year!
Hey everyone!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Here's to a fantastic year of adventures, exhilaration, and incredible new musical journeys!
Rahee and I cannot believe that it is finally 2014! This is the year that we graduate from the greatest four years of our lives. I personally an shocked that 2014 is upon us--I always thought the end of my time at college was always so elusive and out of my reach. Regardless, Rahee and I are so excited to see what 2014 has in store! Wishing all of you the happiest of new years!
