Dirty Gold: "California Sunrise"

I tried to delay Fall as long as I could this year. I only recently switched out summer clothes for sweaters, I refused to eat anything with pumpkin in it, I listened to my summer songs... Don't get me wrong, I love autumn, but I also love the sun and all things summery. But with temperatures dropping and the beauty of St. Louis autumn colors, I'm finally ready to dig into the pumpkin pie and get my Fall on.

Which is why I've been listening to "California Sunrise" by Dirty Gold recently.

I'm not sure if this song is actually super "autumn-y" or if it's just because I discovered it last Fall, but either way, it reminds me of sweaters and freezing nights and walking to school through piles of gold and red leaves. For me, it invokes a certain sense of nostalgia for the summer nights that I love but also makes me feel content with the changing season.

Dirty Gold is a trio of brothers from San Diego, California. Self-diagnosed "Afro-beat / Experimental / Beach-Pop / Surf Pop," Dirty Gold has been around for a few years now, mostly making waves (pun intended) on the indie circuits. Get this: these guys were high-schoolers when "California Sunrise" was released. Crazy huh?

Give "California Sunrise" a listen, I hope you like it as much as I do. Maybe it's more of a summertime jam for you (as it's intended to be). Whatever season you prefer to listen to it in, those catchy drums and lazy guitar riffs are a gorgeous combination.
