Kishi Bashi

I cannot express how obsessed I am over Kishi Bashi. His music is so enthusiastic and animated, and just makes me want to blissfully frolic around. I am so impressed with his use of violin and vocal effects. I mean, how could you NOT be?! He uses HIMSELF as rhythms and layers......I do not understand how creative he is!
Kishi Bashi = beatboxing + rhythms + octaves + layers + harmony + looping = HAPPINESS.

I may or may not have listened to his songs on repeat for a while. Actually....from today. This is the perfect way to mark my Kishi Bashi anniversary...right??

The complexity and pep of his pieces makes me so happy. He has yet to tour in the Lou, but you can bet that I WILL BE ON DAT SHIZ the first opportunity I get.
Let me know if you agree!

Bright Whites

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE KISHI BASHI SONGS. You must watch and enjoy.

Kishi Bashi toured with bands like Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche, and of Montreal before starting an individual record! I cannot tell you enough how thrilled I am by this. Here is a video of him playing "Manchester" right after the release of his new album, 151a. I could keep gushing about how much I adore him, but I hope you discover it for yourself!

Last one: I owe all my Kishi Bashi happiness to this song. "It All Began with a Burst" was my first exposure to Kishi Bashi. Here is a video of my favorite live version! You'll have to jump to 20:30, OR you could simply watch a few of his other awesome pieces.... and be BLOWN. AWAY.

These vids were from KEXP (for the first and third) and Buzzsession for the second. My go-to's for sure. BUT I am also in love with NPR's Tiny Desk too! So for various recordings...

Speaking of which, he covers Beirut! Look that one up too, please :)

So long! Be happy!

Lori
